About Us

We started this blog for our family and friends to follow alongside  us on our journey, but for those who've stumbled across this page... Hello!

We're Graham and Jane and our story goes something like this:

We met in NYC and quickly fell in love with each other, but simultaneously fell out of love with our respective careers. For so many reasons and at the same time for no reason at all, asking ourselves "why not?", we decided to take off for 18 months to explore this beautiful world and the people who live in it.

Thanks for moving along with us on this journey, through what is planned and all the unplanned that is sure to come.  Welcome to our great affair!

When we were planning the trip, my parents (Glenn and Susan) wanted to meet us in Ireland.  This plan ended up not being possible, so we planned a cruise together.  The cruise started on May 25th and ended on June 8th.  It left from England and took us to Norway, Iceland and Scotland.

We left from Southampton, England and made our way to Bergen, Norway.  My cousin Steve lives in Bergen with his wife Anita and 3 children.  Jane and I previously stopped in Norway to see them last September, so we took this opportunity to see them again with my parents.  We spent most of the day at their house where they treated us to a traditional Norwegian dinner of shrimp, scallops, and Bergen fish cakes.  It was great to spend time with family and to have my parents meet the children for the first time.

The next day we arrived in Alesund, Norway.  The four of us spent the day wandering around town enjoying the harbor area, the fish & chips and plenty of softis ice cream.  If you are ever in Norway you have to try the soft serve.  It is fantastic!  Here are a few pictures from our time in Norway.
