We are traveling again and will spend 30 days in Spain hiking the Camino de Santiago from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela. The Way of Saint James attracts almost 300,000 pilgrims a year. I first walked across Spain in 2013 with my mom and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. When Jane and I first started dating, we talked about it and she mentioned that it was something she would be interested in doing. Fast forward a year and a half and here we are.
We arrived in Spain on October 3rd and made our way to Bilbao and San Sebastian for 4 days prior to heading to Pamplona. We are 6 days into our trek. We left Pamplona on the 8th and walked the relatively short 18.8 km to Puenta La Reina. The scenery was great and we had fantastic pilgrims buffet as we rested our aching bodies. From there we walked 21.9 km to Estella where we ate an awful pilgrims menu. The next stage was 21.4 km from Estella to Los Arcos and we saw our first bit of rain as we got dumped on for about an hour. It also lead to my first blister. The blisters are currently winning as I think I am up to 4. Jane luckily has dodged that bullet. We then had 2 long days, 27.4 km from Los Arcos to Logrono followed by 29.2 km from Logrono to Najera. Last night in Najera was also our first trip to a mixed dorm hostel as all the hotels were sold out. For a while it looked like we weren't going to have a room at all, as it was a holiday weekend in Spain, but we managed to get one after calling around for 45 minutes. We finished up today with 21.0 kms to Santo Domingo. Here are a few pictures of our past few days.
